A New Normal
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17
How often have you heard someone who is experiencing pain or discomfort in their life say “I just want things to be normal again”?
As we get into the healing process of recovery, we start to experience something different. We realize that God is moving us into a new place. A new way of being that is full of hope and promise. It’s then we learn that getting back to “normal” or “the way things used to be” isn’t what we really want after all.
In recovery, a new normal begins. We begin the process of growing, healing, experiencing freedom, fellowship and support. We realize that now we are experiencing a new normal. We begin to want more of this new and exciting way of life.
Going back to the way things used to be no longer seems to attract us the way it once did. The path we’re on now is new and exciting. The old path lead us straight to destruction. God has a brand new path. And we are about to experience life as we’ve never imagined it.
Our old life was filed with vain attempts to create our own happiness. In recovery we allow Christ to guide us to the new normal. We yield to His will each day and little by little, day after day our life changes and pretty soon it’s hard to believe that we ever lived the way we once lived.

God, thank you for this new normal. Thank you for making my normal different from that of the world’s normal. Keep on this new path so that I can experience all of you and what you have planed for me. I pray all this in your Son’s name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
