Action

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.  Colossians 3:1-4

Recovery is all about action! It doesn’t just happen by itself. The apostle Paul seemed to have an addiction to tradition, knowledge and being right before coming to know Christ. After coming to know Christ he still battled with the flesh and the spirit of Christ within him. He states in Romans 7:15-20 “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

Brothers and Sisters, if Paul still struggled with the flesh we will to! The good news is that we can take positive action. One of the critical actions we can take is to set our affections on things above. We need to “savor” Christ!

Father God, my recovery calls for me to take action. To be immersed in the process of growing your Kingdom. Please be with me as I step outside my comfort zone and begin taking action on everything you are calling me to do. Amen.
