We don’t see our situations and problems the way God sees them. We are limited by our earthly eyes and we can’t see through heavenly eyes yet. We see a situation and declare it a problem. We awfulize the things we go through and make them appear as though they are much worse than they really are. The way we think about a situation, person, or thing may not be real. Just because something is in our heads does not mean it’s the way we think it is.
God sees things in a totally different way from the way we see things. We look at situations and see problems because we don’t know the outcome. God sees the same thing and sees victory because He is able to exist before, during, and after the situation. We are limited to our experience of right now. God is not limited by time and space.
We awfulize and God glorifies. We see problems and God sees the process. Sanctification and recovery are about learning how to look at things from God’s perspective and not ours. We stop looking for tragedy and we start looking for hope. God is bigger than any situation that we attempt to awfulize. Our thinking is changing from a defeated, victim mentality to knowing that God is always in control. Because He is in control, we are always victorious.
