The noise in our lives is always equivalent to how much stress we are experiencing. Noise equals stress. Many of us have grown so used to constantly being exposed to noise that experiencing quiet has become uncomfortable to us. We have become addicted to noise.
Constant noise is not good for us. Our addiction to noise separates us from Christ and severely limits our ability to hear what He is trying to tell us. We use noise to comfort us, to distract us, and to avoid the things in our lives we need to address. Constant noise keeps us from progressing in our recoveries.
The enemy wants us to be distracted from spending quiet time with Christ. We must be intentional in learning how to be still and be with God. Withdrawal from noise is not going to be easy. We start out with just a few moments a day being quiet and learning to listen. We learn to be still, and in quiet moments we experience God.
