Looking at our pasts is like observing shipwrecks that have been submerged for a very long time. The treasures that sank to the ocean floor have, over time, been covered with sand. “The treasures are discovered when storms come and uncover them from where the sea has hidden them. Storms are necessary to uncover what has been hidden so that the treasures can be found.
Storms are often frightening and have a way of causing us to experience change. There is danger in a storm, but storms also serve a purpose. Jesus can calm the storms of our lives, or He can bring the storms into our lives. Storms might be something to avoid, or they can be blessings in disguise.
We will never know the treasures of our testimonies until we are willing to face the storms that come with honestly looking at our pasts. When we search ourselves, we find the hidden treasures that God has given us. These treasures have been submerged and buried deep. The storms of Christ come and uncover what has been hidden. The storms will not last, but the wealth of our testimonies will last into eternity.
