The Clear Light of Day

Jesus then said, “I came into the world to bring everything into the clear light of day, making all the distinctions clear, so that those who have never seen will see, and those who have made a great pretense of seeing will be exposed as blind.” John 9:39

In recovery we learn we were blind to anything other than what was placed right in front of us. And many times we closed our eyes to the obvious. Recovery calls for us to go deeper than what is on the surface. We move from people who live in shallowness to people who have dept and thrive in introspection. Our site is restored and we see the world in full living color. Because we go deeper looking at our own brokenness, we see more clearly the brokenness of those around us. Blindness to our own triggers, behaviors, attitudes, jealousy and pain is crippling. When we live our lives without examination of our brokenness we are dangerously unconscious. We stumble through life experiencing one crisis after another. We rarely take responsibility for our actions. We run over any one who gets in our way. Christian recovery changes everything. Christ brings site to the blind and exposes those who are pretending to see. Admitting that we are totally broken is the first step in gaining our site. Having a Seeing Eye guide in the form of a sponsor and accountability partners is crucial all through our recovery. God wants to heal our blindness. But we have to come to him with our blindness. We ask for His courage to be able to see. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, Philippians 1:9 Written by James Miller

Father God, if I am stumbling in my recovery help me to be more introspective.  Grant me insight so that I may see more clearly.    Wake me and bring me into the bright light of your Holy Spirit.  I need people in my life that are conscious and see me as I am.  Help me to see my brokenness more fully so that I may be of service to others who are blind and in need of direction.
