I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! Ephesians 1:16-19

Before we can go wide in our faith journey, we must first go deep in looking at our struggles and where we experienced hurt. Going deep allows us to share openly about what it was like before Christ, what happened to us that brought us to Christ, and what it’s like now with Christ in our lives. We are now able to engage with people on a more intimate level. We share openly about being rescued by Christ and our new life of freedom in Him.

Each of us has an amazing testimony of Christ’s healing and rescue. We dig deep into our past, not to wallow in the mud, but to see where Christ did the miraculous in our lives. We don’t look at what we did wrong, but instead look at what Christ did right. When we dig deep, we discover we have powerful testimonies. God has been working in each of our lives to bring us out of the darkness and into His bright light.

Going deep allows us to go wide in sharing the message of Christ with others. God wants to use everything we’ve gone through in our lives to reach the lost and suffering. There is no more shame over what happened in the past. That person is not who we are today. We are a new creation. Our past is what we use to share God’s glory and demonstrate how Christ changes us. What was once shame has become blessings. We go deep, and Christ shows us how far we’ve come on this journey with Him.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, help us to go deep in looking at the things that hold us back from fully being in relationship with Christ. May we go deeper so that we can then go wide. Amen.
