Enthusiastic Recovery

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23 NIV

Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word enthousiasmos, meaning “inspiration or possession by God.” So to be enthusiastic is to be inspired or full of God. How many of us have enthusiasm for our recoveries? To be filled with Christ, and be inspired by Him, is how we know that we are totally engaged in the recovery process.

Enthusiasm doesn’t mean we have to all be cheerleaders, jumping up and down and yelling. Enthusiasm just means that we have a passion for recovery. We are compelled to engage fully in our own recovery and we have a desire to share our passion for recovery with others.

Are we allowing God to inspire us? God wants us to be creators with Him. He made us in His image and that is an image of a creator. God is waiting for us to shine His Light of creativity that resides in each of us. God wants to inhabit our whole hearts. He doesn’t want to just rent a room in our hearts. When we allow God to move and reside in our hearts, we get to have a passion that we never imagined possible.

Jesus, I am in awe and wonder. You take people who are hurt and struggle with addictions and codependency and change them. You make all things new. We don’t become a better version of who we are. You make us into new creations. Thank You, Jesus, for your grace and mercy. May I always have a front row seat to your power and glory. Amen.
