Exiles
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son Colossians 1:13
Why do we feel like we don’t belong here? Why do we feel like we just don’t fit in? Because this world is not our home. We are foreigners in this land and our home is the Kingdom of Heaven. The norms of this world are not our norms. We don’t adhere to the philosophy of hate and unforgiveness of this world. We are the undocumented children of the One True King here on this Earth.

Recovery allows us a place to go to be with other exiles. A place to rest and relax. In the rooms of recovery, we welcome in new exiles and give them a place to be free to love and worship Christ. We even welcome those who have not yet given up their citizenship to this world. Our doors are open to everyone, exile and citizen.

Being real, declaring our struggles and who we are in Jesus Christ, sets us apart from this world. We boldly identify as grateful believers in Jesus Christ, and stating loudly our struggles and victories. We don’t wear the masks that are custom to the culture of this world. Recovery in Christ causes us to be completely different from what is normal. It moves us into a new culture of transparency and openness. Grace has found us and changed our land of origin. Grace will bring us home.

Father God, You have delivered us from the dominion of darkness. We are strangers in this foreign land. Be with us as we seek to bring more of the citizens of this world into the Kingdom of Heaven and create even more exiles. Amen.
