There are going to be difficult times in our recoveries. God never promised us a life without struggles when we became Believers. What God does promise is that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God’s Word tells us He will be with us through every trial. God has promised to remain faithful to us as we walk with Him on this recovery journey.
Being a Believer in recovery means that when we face difficult times, we will be equipped with weapons in the form of recovery tools to deal with whatever circumstance might arise. Before coming into recovery, we had very few options when it came to facing our problems. Now, we have an assortment of weapons at our disposal to deal with whatever comes up in our lives. God has given us powerful weapons to dispatch any attack from the enemy.
God is faithful when He hears our prayers of distress. He allows us to experience all the ups and downs of life. To go through life and not be tempted would mean that we are not connected with anything beyond ourselves. God has given us free-will and with that comes times of temptation. When we are tempted, we have a decision to make. Are we going to lean on God or are we going to attempt to handle it on our own? God is always faithful no matter how we choose to deal with temptation. We move closer to God when we turn away from temptation and towards Him.
