God created us to be like “jars of clay”. We are so fragile in so many ways. Physically we get ill, we acquire disease and our bodies break down. Mentally we face psychological illness and trauma. Emotionally we are simply a mess. Most of us who grew up in dysfunctional families never learned how to cope with our feelings. We turned to the most unhealthy solutions in facing our emotions.
But in these fragile jars, God has placed a surpassing power. In recovery, we learn that we can go through any difficulty and rely on God’s power to see us through. Our jars might get chipped and cracked but His power stays constant and ever flowing.
We are simply vessels for God’s power. We ourselves are powerless but when He resides in us we can become an unstoppable force for His glory. Today, we empty ourselves so that our jars will hold more of God.
