Christ has set us free from the law of sin and death. We are now under grace and have been adopted into the family of God through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We are free forever. Not just from our past sins, but from our present and future sins as well. Christ’s work on the cross is complete, and because of that, we are free forever.
Many times we forget that we are now a free people. It’s easy to get stuck in worldly views of our struggles. We misplace our identity and tell ourselves that we are our struggles. When we continue to live our lives in our old identity, we might as well be imprisoning ourselves. We shut the doors to our prison cells, and we have the key to get out. That key is Jesus Christ.
We are a free people. Christ has taken us from our self-imposed prison cell into the bright light of freedom. We no longer live as slaves to sin. We have a new identity as sons and daughters of a royal family. We are part of something huge, a movement of free people that was once held in bondage and now knows the taste of freedom. Recovery is spreading freedom to those who remain enslaved. The biggest blessing is that we get to be on the frontlines of this huge movement.
