The struggles and victories we’re experiencing now are temporary. They are just a tiny mark on the timeline of eternity. In recovery, we discover that “this too shall pass.” What we feel is fleeting, often changing from day to day and moment to moment. Our gaze is steady on Christ as we glance at life. Our focus must be on the eternal so that we don’t get stuck in the things that are momentary.
In recovery, we look past our brokenness to see the eternal. God’s light is able to enter us through our brokenness. It’s through this same brokenness that we can see the eternal light of God in ourselves and in each other. We have to see through the lens of faith to see what is unseen.
When we see God in our brokenness, we see beauty. God is at work in each of us, using our brokenness to do the miraculous. God always seeks out the broken. God uses the broken exclusively. God uses the broken because that’s all there is. His light shines outward through our brokenness. When our gaze is past brokenness, we see the eternal in each of us.
