God’s priority is not our struggles, problems, or any of our anxieties. God’s priority is us. Because God cares for us, He delights in our turning over our worries and anxieties to Him. God sees past all our struggles. We are His children, and His desire is to see us grow in love, developing in maturity and grace through His Son Jesus Christ.
Each day is a gift and a blessing from God. We are going to face difficulties and struggles. God didn’t design this world to be a 24/7 romp through a field of daisies. Our lives have been created to keep us constantly needing to seek God. None of us were intended to overcome life relying on our own power to get ourselves through whatever problems we face. Recovery teaches us to stop being self-sufficient and to become more God-sufficient.
Christ told us we are going to have difficulties in this world. The problem is not that we are going to have difficulties. The problem is what we are going to do with those difficulties. Christ has overcome this world, and His invitation to us is to cast our anxieties on Him so that we too can overcome. Attempting to manage our lives has only caused them to become unmanageable. When we surrender our lives to God, we overcome and start to see ourselves as God sees us. We struggle and overcome by surrendering our lives to Christ.
