There are several ways we can know that we are living in God’s will. Roman’s 12:2 says not to conform to the culture of this world. Not conforming means that we are going to behave in a way that is not consistent with the norms of this world. Consciously choosing to surrender our wills to the care of God daily is the first thing we do to understand what God’s will is for us.
The true measure of love is sacrifice. When we surrender to God’s will for our lives, we are giving up the idea that we know what is best for us. It’s one thing to say that we love God, but it’s another to give God total control over our lives. When we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, we are demonstrating an act of real love. Love demands sacrifice.
Doing God’s will means that we are going to be a part of something much greater than ourselves. Our plans and abilities are tiny compared to God’s plan for each of us. God’s will is also going to be unique and different for each one of us. We each have a personal relationship with God that is unique to each person. To be in God’s will is to be in God’s love. His love is what changes and transforms everything.
