Grace has brought us to this place of recovery, and grace carries us forward. Grace is God’s voice of change as well as His power that allows us to change. There is nothing we can do, in our own power, to create a long and lasting change. It is only by God’s grace that we can sustain real, significant change in our lives.
Recovery is a gift from God wrapped in grace. Without God’s amazing grace there can be no recovery. Real recovery means that we are no longer the person we were 5 years ago, 1 year ago, or one month ago. No matter where we are in recovery, we can look back, seeing where the hand of God transformed us, from who we once were to who we are now. When grace moves into our lives, guilt, shame, and remorse move out.
Jesus is the center of our recoveries. He guides us with grace, truth, and understanding. In Jesus, we have a Lord who understands our suffering as well as our joy. The grace of Christ carries us beyond the bondage and wreckage of our pasts. In Christ-centered recovery, grace abounds so the extent that there is no room for shame or guilt to linger. We are being led by grace, changing us to be more like Christ each day.
