The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek word enthousiasmos, meaning inspiration or possession by God. To be enthusiastic is to be inspired by God. In recovery, it’s important to ask ourselves if we are enthusiastic about our new lives. To be filled with Christ, and be inspired by Him, is how we know that we are totally engaged in the recovery process.
Enthusiasm doesn’t mean we should be cheerleaders, jumping up, down and yelling. Enthusiasm just means that we have a passion for recovery. We are compelled to engage fully in our own recovery, and we desire to share our passion for recovery with others.
Each day, we ask God to dwell in us and to possess our hearts. God wants us to be creators with Him. He made us in His image, and that is an image of a creator. God is waiting for us to shine His light of creativity that resides in each of us. God wants to inhabit our whole hearts. He doesn’t want to just rent a room in our hearts. When we allow God to move and reside in our hearts, we get to have a passion that we never imagined possible, an enthusiasm.
