Each day we need to pause and take a breath. Even when nothing is going on, we need to stop and remember to breathe. When we stop to take time to breathe, our stress levels go down which enables us to think better, as well as making us more able to handle whatever is going on around us. God has given us this amazing tool that we can use to take a step back in any situation and just breathe.
As we become more deliberate in our thinking, taking deep breaths allows more oxygen to get to our brains, enhancing our perception of our situations. The act of slowing down reduces stress, which in turn causes us to come up with alternative solutions to what’s happening at that moment. God is in the moments of our breathing. God first breathed life into us, and now we have to slow down to give His breath back to Him. It’s important that we totally surrender that moment to Him.
Our breath no longer belongs to us. We are breathing with the breath of God. When we stop to allow God into each moment, we realize our powerlessness and His strength. We breathe because He first breathed into us. Now it’s time to surrender our breathing back to God, and in doing so, we are better able to face every struggle in front of us.
