This is an amazing time to be in recovery. Every day we get to experience the power of Christ working in the lives of those who are with us on our recovery journeys. Jesus is doing a huge work in our lives as well. What once seemed impossible, is now commonplace. Our new task is to remain grateful for what God has given us and remember that we can’t take the miracles we see daily for granted.
We are learning new skills during this recovery process. Isolation was once a key strategy the enemy used to separate us from others and to keep us ineffective in building up the Kingdom of Heaven. Now we are making great strides in learning how to not isolate. We no longer fall for the traps that the enemy sets up for us. At one time, we would miss meetings because we were in emotional pain. Now, we understand that our true healing comes from being in meetings during these emotional times. God has shown us that sharing our pain not only helps us, but it also demonstrates to others how to appropriately share their pain, how to keep from isolating.
God is also teaching us wonderful new talents. We learn how to communicate with others, how to laugh at ourselves, and how to negotiate and resolve a conflict. God is doing for us what we at one time could never do for ourselves. He is changing us daily and creating in us new abilities to manage the challenges of life. This is an awesome time to be in recovery.
