Each of us is in a race in which we are the only runner. No one else can run our race. The irony of running a race that does not belong to anyone else is that we can’t run our races alone. God has placed us in a long-distance race that belongs only to us yet He has given us others that are in their own personal races, to run alongside us. None of us are in competition with one another. We encourage and motivate each other to complete the race that God has set before each of us, individually.
We need each other in this race God has given us. There are times when it will seem as though we can’t take another step forward. Exhaustion sets in, making our minds and our bodies want to quit. But, those who run with us give us hope and encourage us to not give up. Our minds have set up fake barriers that we run through with ease, accepting the motivation of all those spurring us on towards the finish line.
We run our own races, but we never run alone. Each of us encourages one another. The voices of encouragement and hope drown out thoughts of self-doubt and fear. God has placed us right where we need to be, with others who are also running their races. This is our race to run, but we have each other to share our races with.
