There are parts of us that are hidden and obscured by our limited ability to see everything about ourselves. God made us in His image. We don’t get to see God fully in this life, and the same is true when we look at ourselves. God created an extremely complex being when He made us. The complexity of who we are tells us how mighty and wonderful God is.
There are layers of ourselves that are extremely difficult for us to see. We need others in our lives that we give permission to hold up a mirror for us to see things we can not see. Growth happens when we are willing to look below the surface and see the depth of who we are. Sometimes, our reflection does not match the view we have of ourselves. The chances are even greater that our reflection is going to reveal God’s hand at work in building our character and maturity.
We are God’s handicraft. He is changing us from the inside out. We don’t get to see all the things God is doing within us. What we do see is our thinking, actions, and attitudes are changing. God is at work in us, changing all the things that are obscured. We don’t need to see everything; we simply must allow God to be Lord over what is visible and what is hidden within us.
