Every opportunity given to us, we need to be in prayer. We need to especially be in prayer for our recovery groups and for the new people entering the doors of our recovery groups for the first time. There are groups who make it a priority to pray at least three times before the group even starts. Some groups have people set aside who’s responsibility it is to pray for the group, the new people coming into the group, and those who are struggling.
Prayer is our opportunity to do the miraculous. Prayer can soften a hard heart, melt a cold heart, and fire up an apathetic heart. Prayer should be proactive in that it’s the first thing we do and not a last resort. Without prayer, there can be no substantial, long-term recovery. Without prayer, there is no opportunity for recovery.
We have an opportunity each time we attend our recovery meetings to do something powerful. Prayer can do whatever God can do. Nothing can stand against the power of our prayers. No plans for destruction set against us can succeed when we take every opportunity to pray. We take every opportunity to pray and we pray for God’s opportunity to happen in our recovery meetings. When we pray for the opportunity to share Christ with others, we’ll start seeing opportunities everywhere.
