Out of Bounds

“And I will set your boundaries…” Exodus 23:31

In the Old Testament of the Bible, God led His people out of slavery and into Egypt. As He brought them to the land He wanted to give them, He told them that He would set the boundaries for their land. We all have boundaries. They define who we are and what we do. They can also define who we are not and what we won’t do.

Do you ever step outside of the boundaries that God has put in your life? He will let you lead yourself. You can go wherever you like, completely ignore Him, and break through the boundaries. God knows we cannot be completely free if we go our own way and do our own thing. Left to ourselves, we tend to make the wrong choices and suffer the consequences. When we go our own way, we distance ourselves from the very people God has called to help and encourage us. When we go our own way, we are unprotected from the enemy, Satan, who desires to tear us apart and kill us. Just like God freed His people from Egypt, we need God to keep us safe and free us from things that can enslave us. And we need His Holy Spirit to lead us along the right path. You see, we can only be completely free by yielding to Jesus, allowing Him to set all of our boundaries and keep us there.

He is always AVAILABLE to us.
He is always AWARE of our needs.
He is always ABLE to help us.

Heavenly Father, you set the perfect boundaries for us. Help me to learn to set good boundaries for myself. Help me to understand the importance of having healthy boundaries. Guide me to Godly people who will respect my boundaries. Help me to understand when I might be overstepping someone else’s boundaries. I pray all this in your Son’s name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
