God’s desire is for us to live a life of passion. We are made to discover and then pursue, with passion, those things that God has placed on our hearts. God did not design any of us to live our lives eating potato chips, laying on a couch. There is a fire God has placed in each of us that will not be extinguished.
Our passion might be our recovery walk with Christ. We find this deep hunger for anything and everything that has to do with recovery. We look forward to our recovery meetings, and on meeting nights we find ourselves full of excitement as we run, not walk, towards the passion God has placed in us. We are a people with a purpose and an urgency. There are too many people who are lost, and living in darkness, for us to live a life of complacency. God brought us into the rooms of recovery. He has instilled in us a passion, a desire to share that same hope and freedom with others.
Whatever our passion is, we know that it comes directly from Christ. Our passion is Christ-centered, Christ-exalting, and Bible-saturated. Our passion is meant to serve Christ and others. It is never about serving ourselves. We know that Christ will give us His rest, helping us to sustain and grow the passion He has placed in us. We are a people on fire for Christ and His promise of new life, and hope. Christ has given each of us new life and now He gives us the burning fire of passion.
