New Song

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him. Psalm 40: 1-3

Recovery in Christ is our new song. A new song is being sung every time we enter a meeting. We hear a song of brokenness and restoration, despair and hope, loss and revelation. This song is soft yet it’s words cut through our hearts like a weapon.

Each person that walks through the doors is a new verse being added to the existing chorus. All our heart songs blend together in harmony. A choir of resolution fills the rooms of recovery. At times the song is so low we have to pause to listen. At times the song is so resounding it takes our breath away.

Recovery is a new song. It doesn’t matter if it’s our first meeting or if we’ve been in recovery for years. Each meeting is a new song of praise and thanksgiving for what Christ is doing or is about to do.

New Song

Jesus, we sing you a new song. A song of recovery and reconciliation. A song of thanksgiving for all you have done. A song of hope for those who are making their way into the rooms of recovery. We sing to glorify you because you are why we sing a new song.
