Terminally Unique

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV

None of us are terminally unique. We all share the same dysfunctions, selfish nature, sin as every other person that lives or has ever lived. Yes some of us may be a little more dysfunctional than others but in the end we share in the human condition.

Our pride tells us that the sin we experience is different than that of others. Our shame keeps us from telling others about our sin. Both pride and shame keep us in the dark and out of the sunlight of God’s spirit.

When we confess to someone else, we break free of the self imposed chains and come into a new life of God’s perfect freedom. We stop living a life of terminal uniqueness. We live fully in the life that God has given us. Purpose and fulfillment enter our lives and we are liberated to live the life that God intended.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

Heavenly Father, help me to be transparent in all parts of my life. Be with me as I walk through my fear of allowing others to see me as I really am. Be near as I face the fear of letting down all my masks and allow others to see me as human and broken.
