Upside Right

“I’ve come to start a fire on this earth—how I wish it were blazing right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything rightside up—how I long for it to be finished! Do you think I came to smooth things over and make everything nice? Not so. I’ve come to disrupt and confront! ”                                     Luke 12: 49-50 The Message

Change is scary. Learning to walk through our pain, instead of around or over, is difficult. Sometimes it seems that everything we thought we new about living life is being challenged. Our GPS was broken and now we realize we were heading in the opposite direction from God. It’s painful when we  realize just how far off we had veered away from God. As we go further along His path for us, we see that everything is being placed upside right.

The world says, “Bury it”. Jesus says, “Dig it up and expose it”. The world says, “It’s someone else’s fault”. Christ says, “Take responsibility and forgive”. The world says, “You can have it all”. Jesus says, “Lose it. Give it away.” The world says, “Put yourself first.” Our Lord says, “Serve.”

Christ is now leading us in a very different direction. Sometimes this direction is away from everything we once held dear. We let go of our old distractions to be more focused on this journey with Christ.

This journey will turn our lives upside right.
