We do not identify with the struggle. We don’t place our identity in the struggle. We are not our hurts, habits, or hangups. Our identity is in Christ. Not our problem.
This is a huge difference from other 12 step programs where people identify with the problem. The problem with identifying with the problem is we get stuck in being the problem and we never move out and away from the problem. We never get to fully experience victory and freedom from that problem. Our pain becomes who we are.
Christ centered recovery is different. We place our identity in freedom instead of something that will constantly hold us in bondage. And now we are a free people. People who are not enslaved by addiction or compulsive self destructive behaviors. We now get to live life to the full. We get to grow and mature in Christ.
