Recovery Tools

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

God has provided us with an abundance of tools for us to use in recovery. We are now able to work on, and find victory over, situations that at one time would have left us lost. God has brought people into our lives whom we can share our hurts, disappointments, and joys. We are no longer left to fend for ourselves and come up with our own solutions. God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Our recovery tools include simple things like daily journaling and meditation.  We pray throughout the day and seek comfort and direction from God. Sometimes a phone can feel like it weighs 50 pounds but when we begin to talk the weight gets lighter, both for the phone and for ourselves. We are learning new ways to deal with old problems. And we take advantage of everything God offers to gain victory over our struggles.

Our recovery groups, sponsors, and accountability partners can be our greatest recovery tools. The group is solid ground in a time of difficulty. Our sponsors are there to guide and show alternative solutions. Our accountability partners act as a team to keep us going in the right direction. We have such an abundance of riches that God has given us. Our recovery tools are priceless and get us through the worst of storms in our lives. God is making a way for each of us to continually grow with the tools He gives us.

Father God, thank You for all the recovery tools You have given me. Thank You for all the people You have placed in my life to support and hold me accountable. Help me to use all the recovery tools You have provided. Let my recovery glorify You and help me to serve others with the same tools You provided to me in Recovery. Amen.
