Our wounds may be healed, but many of us still have scars left over from those wounds. Our scars show the world where we were hurt and how Christ has healed our wounds. These scars are not to be hidden or viewed as shameful. We delight in showing where we were once hurt because now we have a story of healing and recovery.
Jesus had to show the Disciples His scars because they did not recognize Him. Once they saw His scars, they knew immediately who He was. As Believers in Christ, we too show who we are through our scars. The wounds have been healed, and all that remains are the scars. Jesus overcame this world and showed His scars as proof of His victory over this world. We share our scars in the same way Jesus shared His. Our healed wounds tell the world, through Christ, we have overcome our past struggles.
No matter how the world views our scars, Christ sees past them. Our scars are beautiful to Christ. He has taken our wounds and replaced them with marks that show the wounds are now healed. Like Christ, others know that we are Christians in recovery because of our healed wounds. The scars remain to show the Glory of Christ in what He has done to heal our wounds.
