God has given us this amazing blessing of being placed in a position to serve others. This blessing comes as an honor and also has huge responsibilities. We are not placed in a position of leadership just so we can think we are above or over others. Leadership is about serving others, not having authority over them. In Christ-centered recovery, we are servant leaders who are entrusted with the responsibility to serve rather than be served.
Jesus is the ultimate authority and has given us the perfect example of how we’re to serve others when we are in leadership positions. Being a leader is all about serving Christ and others. People struggle with leadership positions when they think of themselves as the ultimate authority, and not Christ. Using our positions of leadership as ones of authority and not service is a recipe for failure.
We are servant leaders who have been given the responsibility to serve others for Christ. Pride, selfishness, and our own desires should never enter into the great blessing of leadership we have been given. As leaders, we are going to do great things for Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven. God has entrusted to us this blessing and responsibility to serve others in the same way Christ demonstrated when he lead and served others.
