…-the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not. Romans 4:17

Before coming into recovery, many of us were just going through the motions and not really living. It was as if we were dead, but our bodies hadn’t received the message. We had no purpose, no direction, and no life. We spent our time just existing. Our lives lacked meaning and the world around us appeared dull and gray.

Recovery in Christ allows us to rise up from the dead and start living life. Christ doesn’t just give us a little life, He gives us life to the full. In our recoveries, we hear Christ speak into our lives; and where there was once nothing, we have life overflowing. We now have these new lives in recovery that did not come about until Jesus spoke them into existence.

With a word, Christ raises the dead and brings forth that which did not exist during our lost lives. There was no hope, grace, purpose, joy, or life before our journeys with Christ, but now we experience them in abundance. What at one time did not exist, we now experience in abundance. Christ is the giver of all good things and, in Him, there is no scarcity. We are in recovery because of the effects of our lives lived without Christ. Christ gave us our new lives, and now we have everything we need to recover from the old ones.

Today’s Prayer

Father God, Thank You for speaking life into me and into my recovery. You call out what was not and make it what is. All glory is Yours. Amen.
