God has blessed us in abundance with the gift of recovery. Each of us has been given something that, at times, we can easily take for granted. We have something very special that has been given to us. We encounter so many people who are hurting and in need of Christ’s healing. Isolation and feelings of emptiness plague our world. Not many people have this blessed gift called recovery.
Because recovery is so rare in this world, we must make every effort to ensure that our recovery groups continue to thrive. We are the stewards of God’s outpouring of love. In recovery, we are the stewards of our groups and of each other. We have a responsibility to make sure that our groups continue to exist so that those who are hurting can find their way through the doorways of recovery.
In Christ-centered recovery, we have a stewardship of love. Nothing can ever really be ours that we have not given to others. We cannot have love unless we give love away. Stewardship with recovery is not about keeping love safe as if it’s a rare commodity. Being good stewards of recovery means that we love as Christ loves us. Recovery is a stewardship of love that can only be kept by giving it away.
