The Bridge

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Before Jesus came to Earth, there was a wide ocean between us and God. Nothing we did, no amount of being good or attempts at being holy could lessen the distance between us and God. There were no ships that could sail to God and no bridges over the expanse of ocean that separated us. Trying to cross the ocean that separated us from God was impossible, until Jesus came and closed the gap between us and.

Jesus is our bridge to God. We are no longer separated by oceans that threaten to swallow us. Jesus made a way for us to no longer be separated from God. Because of Jesus, we get to experience a forever relationship with God. Nothing separates us from His love and mercy.

The land on the other side of the bridge is full of life and adventure. We each must decide to stay on our familiar side of the bridge, or crossover into unfamiliar territory. Christ made a way by becoming the bridge and now we decide which side we will live on. Do we stay with what we are familiar with or do we leave the desolation of our old life behind for new lands on the other side of the bridge?

Heavenly Father, thank You for making a way for us to be able to be in relationship with YOu and to able to spend this life and eternity with You. We are no longer separated from You. Thank you for Your Son who is now the bridge from this land of desolation to You. Amen.
