Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:10-11

God gives us gifts that are oftentimes wrapped in unexpected packaging. What we once looked at as being shameful, God has turned into a testimony of grace and healing. God doesn’t create the hurt that enters our lives, but He takes our experiences and turns them into stories of redemption and hope.

Healing comes when we can see our past from God’s viewpoint. God is using everything we once tried to avoid. He has given us these new lives in recovery, and it’s up to us to use these gifts to glorify Him. The gift of recovery is such a rare and special gift. Many are given the opportunity to experience freedom and healing, but few have accepted God’s offer for a new life.

Our lives and our testimonies are amazing gifts from God. Nothing from our past is wasted. God is the ultimate recycler. He takes everything that once seemed useless and turns it into fantastic works of art. These gifts are to be used to serve others and not placed on a mantle as trophies. The very things we once tried to hide are now the gifts God gives to us.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly God, You took what was thrown out by this world and turned it into something amazing. The world tells us we will never be of any value. You chose us to be Your masterpiece. We now go out and share what you have made with everyone. In Christ name, Amen.
