The New Year brings a time of quiet reflection on our recovery journey over this last year. Many of us have experienced lots of growth and change. We’ve gone through situations that were difficult and, in the past, might have been an excuse to relapse. Some of us may have relapsed into our old behaviors. No matter where we are in our recoveries, God is the God of resurrection and new beginnings.
This New Year is a new beginning for each of us. We let go of anything that has weighed us down by asking Christ to unload our burdens. Christ wants to take everything that we’ve been carrying that’s been crushing us under its weight. Christ relieves our stress and anxiety as we experience the light and lightness of Christ.
Now that Christ has unburdened us, we get to live free in His presence. This next year beacons us to experience life differently. Christ is taking us to places we could have never gone because of the load we carried. We can now live life with joy and excitement. We are free to run and play and be creative. We are learning Christ’s unforced rhythms of grace.
