Christ cares deeply for each of us. In the beginning stages of our recovery, we learn we are broken. We come to believe that we can be restored and we turn our will and life over to Him. We surrender our lives to God only once, and we surrender our wills to Him each day.
The third step says that we are in God’s care. For some of us, the word care in the third step is a major leap. Yes, we believe that we are broken. We know that there is a God who is powerful and can do what is for us impossible. But, many of us believed God to be far removed from our struggles and daily life. Our belief was that God existed; he just didn’t care about us on an intimate level.
We now come to a point where we learn that God does care. He cares enough to send His son Jesus to be born in poverty, live among us, and die for us. He cares for us deeply. God wants us to be dependent on Him. We turn our will over to His care daily. The life we live is no longer ours. Our life is now in God’s care.
