Jesus is calling each of us to go on a new adventure. Just as he did with the disciples, He is also calling each of us to join Him in a quest to change lives, change communities, and change the world. The biggest adventure is the one where He takes us on an amazing journey of self-discovery and total transformation.
This adventure is not going to be an easy one. There are going to be times when we will not want to go any further. There might be times when we think the adventure is not worth the struggle. Looking at all our dysfunctional patterns of behavior and everything that holds us back from having a closer relationship with Christ can be difficult. But, Jesus is clearing a path to make us receptive to what needs to be discovered and resolved.
We have to first go deep before we can go wide. Jesus takes us on an adventure of self-discovery, so that we can then go out and live an adventure of service to Him and others. The adventure is not always going to be difficult. We come to clearings along the way where we can rest, take stock of where we have been, and ask Christ where He wants to take us next. This new adventure is full of purpose, and our lives have new meaning. We now see our lives as an adventure to be lived as Jesus promised in John 10:10, “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”
