Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:6

We need to give ourselves time to heal. We can’t listen to those who would say healing should be done in a certain time-frame. Our restoration is in God’s hands, and He sets the pace for our healing. Some wounds are healed quickly while other wounds may take time to heal. God is the ultimate healer and is in complete control of where we are in the healing process.

God is taking us on this amazing journey of healing. Our wounds were accumulated over time, and it takes time for them to heal. We see progress and steady growth happening slowly. God is doing His work in us to guide us through the restoration of our past wounds. Only He knows the time and pace of our healing.

There are rewards that come with healing over time. God could, if He wanted to, completely heal us in an instant. However, that would cause us to lose the personal time of walking with God through the healing process, personal time of growth with Him. We also learn about patience and how to trust God as He does the healing in His time, not ours.

Today’s Prayer

Lord God, we know that Your healing can be a process. Help us to have patience and know that You are guiding us through a journey of healing with You. It is You who set the pace of our healing and not us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
