When we enter a group, we alter the dynamics of that group. Each of us leaves traces of ourselves in the group. Our traces combine with everyone else’s to create a unique group experience. What we each bring to a group is important. When we bring our anger into a group, that anger has an impact on the entire group. However, when we bring love into a group, the entire group will experience changes.
Love is the one thing that will override any and all other traces left in a group. Love completely alters the group and could change the direction of the group. Love can cancel out fear, anger, loss, anxiety, and shame. Love can change each of the individuals in the group.
We are always going to leave traces of ourselves behind. If Christ were a forensics specialist, what would the traces we leave behind look like to Him? Would He find love and grace, or would He see selfishness and pride in the evidence we left behind? The traces that we leave behind tell a lot about who we are and how we are living our lives. Love is the evidence that we are followers of Christ. The more traces of love we leave behind, the more we can see that we belong to Christ.
