We now know that everything we went through before recovery was not because God had abandoned us. Many of us can remember times when we felt alone and distant from God. Even when we tried to run away from God or pretend He wasn’t there, He never left us. God was preparing a way for us to escape the wreckage of our lives we created.
God loved us so much that He helped others to start and grow our recovery groups so that we could find hope and healing in Christ. His love was greater than any of our past struggles. While we were making a mess of our lives, God was preparing a way for us to find a new life in the rooms of recovery.
Our lives now belong to Christ, and we are Children of God. We have a past, but our past does not define who we are. We are no longer the product of dysfunctional families, abuse, addiction, or trauma. God has given us a new identity and our lives new meaning. What great love our Father God lavishes on us by giving us the blessing of recovery.
