Christ-centered recovery gives a new meaning of the word whatever. Instead of whatever being a sarcastic response, we now say whatever it takes to get and stay close to our Lord, Jesus Christ. Whatever now means we are willing to go to any lengths to do what is needed to have real freedom. We are doing whatever is necessary to live a life of sanity and restoration.
Today, we are living in whatever is real. Our recovery groups are there to help us stay grounded in reality. Before recovery, we relied on our own strength, reasoning, and judgment to get us through life. We struggled with the consequences of living a life where we relied upon our ability to just get by, leaving God out of any decisions. The damage done by our self-will was evident by the chaos that brought us into the rooms of recovery.
God is moving us into whatever His plan is for our lives. We are to remain open-minded to whatever He is offering us. Our whatevers are no longer a quick response to something we thought was offensive. Our new whatever is an understanding that God is in control, and we are doing whatever He desires.
